Little Orphan Annie - Chicago Connection
The comic strip, Little Orphan Annie, first appeared in the Chicago Tribune on August 5th, 1924. Harold Gray was inspired by James Whitcomb Riley's popular 1885 poem "Little Orphant Annie" which begins:
